PV Technology: Decoding CWPC's "Smart" Key to Green Transformation
2025-06-13

As global demand for clean energy continues to rise, the photovoltaic (PV) industry has entered a golden period of vigorous development. The digital and intelligent transformation of PV power plants, as a key path to enhance industry efficiency and promote sustainable development, is becoming a focal point for the industry. Amidst constant technological iteration and evolution, the practical application, challenges, and future trends of PV plant digitalization and intelligence technologies are drawing significant attention.

Today, we've invited Manager Xu Kaiyan from CWPC Design Institute to take us on a journey to explore the secrets of CWPC's PV technology.

Interviewer: Hello, Manager Xu. Could you briefly explain the main aspects involved in the digitalization and intelligence technology for PV power plants?

Manager Xu: Hi! Simply put, PV plant digitalization and intelligence technology involves equipping PV power plants with a "smart brain" using high technology. It runs through the entire lifecycle of the plant, covering three core areas: First, simulation technology – like building a virtual plant model on a computer to accurately simulate various operating conditions. Second, assessment technology – using intelligent analysis to clarify key factors like solar resources and terrain conditions. Third, full-process intelligent technology – using data to drive the entire process from design and construction to operation and maintenance, making it more efficient.

Interviewer: Among these digitalization and intelligence technologies, which ones have shown particularly outstanding results in practical applications?

Manager Xu: There are quite a few! For example, AI ground object recognition technology performs exceptionally well in large ground-mounted power plant assessments, achieving recognition accuracy and intersection over union rates above 90% and 85% respectively. Also, in distributed power plant assessment, technologies for simultaneous complex rooftop and park-level resource evaluation have boosted assessment efficiency by over 3 times. In construction, automated robots for installing modules in large ground-mounted plants have significantly increased installation speed while reducing installation costs by about 30%. These technologies have been a great help, not only improving efficiency but also saving considerable costs!

Interviewer: That sounds very impressive. What challenges do these digitalization and intelligence technologies currently face in application?

Manager Xu: For instance, PIM4D technology is not yet mature domestically, and technologies for plant holographic modeling and construction simulation need further refinement. The automation level and adaptability of intelligent construction equipment also require improvement. In terms of technological development, AI ground object recognition needs further enhancement in recognition accuracy and the variety of objects identified. Technologies like electricity price prediction and fault diagnosis also need to evolve towards greater precision and efficiency. However, CWPC is committed to tackling these challenges, and we believe solutions will be found in the near future.

Interviewer: Looking ahead, in which directions will digitalization and intelligence technologies make breakthroughs?

Manager Xu: Oh, there are many breakthrough directions for the future! We will focus on two main dimensions: First, by introducing large model algorithms to enhance the dynamic accuracy of electricity price prediction. Second, in the field of fault diagnosis, integrating technologies like IoT and big data to achieve second-level early warnings. Intelligent construction equipment will also be upgraded towards full-scenario adaptability, ultimately realizing "unmanned management" and "efficiency maximization" throughout the entire lifecycle of PV power plants
